The resource meets parts of the following: KS3 Curriculum Outcomes, elements for PHSEE (economic wellbeing), 11-19 Work Related Learning Framework, Personal Learning and Thinking Skills, and Literacy objectives.
Plane Business consists of a series of presentations and activities that will reinforce and check students’ learning in the following subject areas:

Introduction to Europe and its main cities• Introduction to Business Studies and Trade• International Trade, Currency and Exchange Rates • Communication and Modern Foreign Languages• Research & Presentation Project
In partnership with Newham Education Business Partnership, Airport representatives regularly attend BOSS. The purpose of the day is to offer an insight into the skills and attributes employers look for in prospective employees. Workshops focus on completing application forms and CV’s as well as interview techniques. Following the BOSS Day, London City Airport invites students to the Airport to participate in a mock interview. Students from local schools and colleges visit the Airport and are guided through the interview process and provided immediate feedback on how the interview went. The process is designed to prepare students for a genuine job interview.

Dwayne Black, also one of the Newham residents from the scheme said: “The scheme has been very beneficial to me as it has broadened my horizons and made me realise what I actually want to be once I finish, before I was not too sure on what it is that I wanted to do. I would recommend the scheme to everyone from my experience LCY staff have always been there if you needed any advice or help with any aspect of University life. Also the work experience and training courses has proved invaluable and looks great on your CV as employers of today are looking for both good grades and work experience and LCY provide this by being on the scheme”.
